MEP to join rally to 'cut the carbon'
7th September 2007
EURO-MP Eluned Morgan will join hundreds in Cardiff tomorrow at a rally to highlight the impact of climate change on the developing world.
The Labour MEP, a member of the European Parliament's Climate Change Committee, will take part in Christian Aid's Cut the Carbon event at Cooper's Field.
ELUNED MORGAN will say:
"CO2 knows no boundaries and none of us will escape the effects of climate change, but the fact is that it is the poorest who will disproportionately pay the highest price. Africa, for example, has played virtually no role in global warming and yet temperatures there will increase by as much as six per cent by the next century.
"The developing world urgently needs positive action from the developed world. The EU is taking the global lead, but industrialised nations must continue to work together to combat the threat of climate change, for the sake of our children and those in the developing world."
